Blair Castle

By taking a trip to Blair Castle, you’ll be visiting a unique place that has been the home of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl for 19 generations. It’s also home to the Atholl Highlanders, Europe’s last remaining private army.

You’ll be able to take in great architectural design, period furnishings and paintings that are spread over the 30 accessible rooms. You’ll get a real taste of the cultural history of the Highland castle.

In the grounds of the castle, there’s the chance to visit the nine-acre walled garden that is of Georgian design. Fruit trees, a Chinese bridge and 18th-century sculptures give the gardens an authentic traditional feel.

The castle is open every day until the 31st of October with daily opening times set at 9.30 am – 5.30 pm. The last admission is at 4.30 pm.

Ticket prices vary, with the option to visit the house and the gardens or just the gardens. An adult ticket to both costs £11 while a child’s ticket costs £7. You can purchase a family ticket for the price of £32. Tickets for the gardens only are £6.50 for adults, £3 for children and £16 for a family ticket. There’s also the option to purchase an annual pass which gives you access all year round.

Generally, tours of the castle are self-guided, but there are guides on each floor who will be there to assist you with any questions that you may have. If you are part of a group of 12 or more, you can request a fully guided tour.
